Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Bora Bora, these are all beautiful places that many would consider paradise. They all have amazing beaches with breathtaking views. Yes, these places are mesmerizing; yet they are nothing compared to the ultimate paradise of heaven. But the real question here is, how would I know? I’ve never seen heaven, neither has anyone on earth.

So, how would I know that this is a place of paradise? What does heaven even look like?

Heaven is mentioned all throughout the Bible; the first mention being in Genesis 1:1. “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” (NASB). This only tells us that heaven is real; it doesn’t really describe what heaven looks like. However, In Revelation, heaven is described. “It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. It had a great, high wall with twelve gates.” (Revelation 21:11-12, NLT). Something else we know, which we don’t even need the Bible to know, is that God lives in heaven. Psalm 115:3 (NLT) states, “Our God is in the heavens, and he does as he wishes.”

Since heaven isn’t described detail by detail in the Bible, we can only use our imagination to use

what we have and piece it all together. We know that it is bright with the glory of God, has twelve

gates, and contains our Almighty God. We won’t know exactly what heaven looks like until we get

there. Be that as it may, given the information that we have, we all can truthfully say that this place

is the ultimate paradise.
