Purpose of Fast

To reach those who don’t know the Lord and/or have harden hearts, that the Holy Spirit will convict them to receive God into their hearts • To grow closer to God • To focus on being like Jesus in His ministry •  To grow in the Word.

2 Chronicles 7:14 King James Version, “If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble them-selves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

Daniel 9:3-5 King James Version, And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes: And I prayed unto the Lord my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love Him, and to them that keep His commandments; We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from Thy precepts and from Thy judgments:”

Daniel 10:2 King James Version, “In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks.”

2 Corinthians 13:5 New International Version, “Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test your-selves. Do you not realize that Christ is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?”

Matthew 9:37-38 King James Version, “Then saith He unto His disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few,  Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth labourers into His harvest.”

During the fast

  • Set aside specific times daily to communicate with God through prayer, reading Scriptures and meditating.
  • Examine yourself, focus on being humble, repentant and positive.
  • Keep in mind the World’s current situations (Covid 19, Natural Disasters, Injustice Situations, Health Concerns and Political Issues).

God wants our full attention as a nation. Many of the Old Testaments Saints threw themselves on God’s mercy on behalf of the unbelieving people.

You might want to keep a “Journal” during this time, EXPECTING to hear from God, as you read scriptures, pray, and reflect.
